Technical specifications: data backup and hosting

Where are your data stored? And how are they protected in case of an incident?

Indeed, data backup in DoliPlus relies on highly secure European data centres.

Furthermore, it is based on a fully automated system.

Here, in full transparency, is how your information is kept.

1. Data location and hosting

First, the entire software infrastructure is centralised. Similarly, production data storage remains grouped within data centres with high security standards.

  • Hosting provider: Hetzner Online GmbH

  • Address: Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany

  • Physical location: Nuremberg data centre, Germany.

2. Data backup policy

Furthermore, an automated data backup system ensures business continuity. In practice, it is segmented by data type:

2.1. Databases

  • Frequency: two backups per day.

  • Retention: additionally, a daily copy is kept for 15 days on a rotating basis.

2.2. Documents and files

  • Frequency: then, a daily document backup.

  • Methodology: differential backups. This optimises transfer times and data integrity.

2.3. Outsourcing and redundancy

Furthermore, backups are outsourced. This prevents any risk related to the main site:

  • Support: dedicated storage box.

  • Secondary location: Hetzner data centre in Falkenstein, Germany (geographically distinct from Nuremberg).

  • Additional security: furthermore, the storage box itself benefits from snapshots, with a maximum rotation of 12 days.

3. Restoration and reliability

  • Restoration tests: furthermore, restoration tests are carried out randomly and regularly on client servers. This validates the viability of backup files and the proper functioning of recovery procedures.

4. Offline backups and client externalisation

4.1. Immutable / Offline backup

Additionally, the system allows users to create their own offline backups. To do this, they manually download the database only. However, downloading the document library remains incompatible with this method.

Thus, the customer retains a physical or cold copy, according to their own internal security policy.

4.2. Outsourced and automated data backup option (recommended)

For maximum security, we strongly recommend our automated outsourcing option.

  • Operation: in practice, a differential transfer occurs every night, to a storage medium owned by the customer (Linux server, Synology NAS, S3-type storage, others on request).

  • Content: moreover, the “Documents” folder includes database backups in MariaDB format. It also contains all digital documents stored in the DoliPlus document library.
