Product management list in DoliPlus

What is a product?

A product is a physical item you manage, either as something sold to customers or sourced from suppliers. Unlike services, products are tangible goods.

Key characteristics:

  • Can be stored in a warehouse (only products appear in the Stock module);
  • Can be shipped (only products appear in the Shipping module);
  • Often depreciates in value over time (used products are worth less than new ones).

Services differ as they can’t be stored or shipped – they’re either performed or not.

Virtual products (product bundles)

Product management also handles virtual products – “parent” products composed of other items. Enable this feature in the Products or Services module configuration.

This creates “bundles” or “kits”, letting you manage orders, invoices and stock with one master item instead of multiple components.

Virtual product rules:

  • Only the parent product appears in documents (quotes, orders, invoices);
  • Component stock levels update when the virtual product is processed;
  • Virtual products can contain other virtual products with physical items.

Note: This isn’t a manufacturing feature. Components are only deducted from stock when the parent product is consumed, and remain available separately. Learn more about production management
