Migrating your Outlook email account to Google allows you to access all your old emails in the DoliPlus mailbox, which relies on Google services. This way, you switch tools without losing any of your history.
Why migrate your Outlook account to Google?
When you adopt the DoliPlus mailbox, your emails and contacts are still in Outlook. However, you don’t want to start with an empty inbox. The migration transfers all your messages to the Google server.
You benefit in several ways:
- preserved history: your old emails remain accessible;
- smooth transition: you continue working with your familiar references;
- unified mailbox: everything is in your DoliPlus environment.
How to migrate your Outlook account to Google?
Google offers two approaches depending on your situation. In all cases, the operation copies your messages to the Google account without affecting the original Outlook inbox.
The easiest way: Gmail’s built-in import. From your destination Google account, go to Settings → View all settings → Accounts and import, then click on Import mail and contacts. Enter the address and password of your Outlook/Microsoft account: Gmail connects via POP3 and retrieves your old emails (and contacts).
For large volumes or professional accounts: Google provides the official tool Google Workspace Migration for Microsoft Outlook (GWMMO, formerly “Google Apps Migration”), which installs on Windows and imports emails, calendar, and contacts from Outlook or a PST file.
The steps remain the same in general:
- connect the Google account that will receive the messages;
- specify the Outlook/Microsoft account to transfer;
- start the transfer and let the copy run in the background.
