Digital vCard Business Card

The vCard business card lets you share and retrieve contact details in one click. This way, you exchange contacts with your relations without any re-entry.

DoliPlus exports and imports this format. In practice, you keep your address book up to date between the ERP, your contacts, and your email.

The vCard format, a universal standard

The vCard business card uses the open .vcf (Virtual Card File) format. Widely used, it serves to transmit personal or professional contact details.

Indeed, this format is recognised by most everyday tools:

  • address books (Apple Contacts, Thunderbird, Outlook);
  • smartphones and tablets;
  • email clients and professional networks.

Exporting a vCard from DoliPlus

Exporting is very straightforward. To do this, go to the “Import-Export” tab of a contact, or from the customer or supplier list in the menu. You then get a .vcf file ready to share.

Importing vCards into DoliPlus

Conversely, you can easily integrate received business cards. Two options are available:

  • the Tools → Import Wizard → “Third Party-Contacts via vCard” menu;
  • the “Import-Export” tab of a contact, which then links the imported contacts to the relevant customer or supplier.

Creating a third party and its contact from a vCard, step by step

  1. Tools menu › Import Wizard › “Third Party-Contacts via vCard”.
  2. Choose the .vcf file (one business card, 10 KB maximum), then click “Verify before import”: DoliPlus reads the card and shows it to you; nothing is created yet.
  3. Check what will be imported: last name and first name, job title, company, phone numbers (office, mobile, home), email, website and address.
  4. Leave “Add to this third party” empty to create a new prospect named after the company on the card, with the person as its contact; choose an existing third party to add only the contact to it.
  5. If needed, “Add third party to a category” files it in a customer category as soon as it is imported (for example “Trade Show 2026”).
  6. Click “Add”: the third party and its contact are created. “View Third party” opens the record, to be completed (country, payment terms…); the form is ready for the next card.

Combine multiple cards into a single file. From the
Tools menu, then Import Wizard / Address Book, an interface lets
you upload all your vCards in the explorer, then merge them into a single file named
Assembly_XXX.vcf. This is the format expected by most address books for a one-time import.

Updating your webmail address book

Tools menu › Import Wizard › “Address book”: the screen has two tabs, two ways to fill the address book of your webmail.

  • “Assemble vCards”: add your cards (.vcf files exported from a phone or another email client) with “Upload files”, or drag them in. Click “Start assembly”: the file “Assemblage_… .vcf” combines all the cards you added. Download it, then import it in one go into the contacts of your webmail or your phone.
  • “Import a CSV into the webmail address book”: are your contacts in a spreadsheet? This tab adds them directly to the address book of YOUR webmail, from a template to fill in (see the webmail article, section “The address book”). Only contacts with a valid email address are accepted.
